The Agenda, Chapter 1, Episode 1 wrapped up Monday night with a great first show. We kicked it off with an interview with Sen. Ted Kennedy talking about marriage, Massachusetts and the future of federal employment protections and hate crimes laws. Then we had a Cup of Joe where Joe talked to Lorna Luft, daughter of entertaining legend Judy Garland, about the Stonewall riots beginning on the night of her mother’s funeral. We also got a sneak peak at a new song from Luft’s new album, “Songs My Mother Taught Me.” Listen to Joe’s complete interview with Lorna Luft.
Bryan Rafanelli of Rafanelli Events called in to talk gay weddings with Joe and Mary. Then Billy Zero from XMU (their college/indie music channel) stopped by to give us a listen to a new song from the band Army of Me.
In The Skinny, Michael Mitchell of the ACLU’s marriage project joined us live from New York to give an update on marriage across the country. After that we talked to Mary Bonauto of Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, who won the marriage equality case in Massachusetts. Then I joined the conversation to share a package on the Gay Games taking place this week in Chicago.
In our Point of View segment, Lisa Sherman, general manager of Logo, joined us from New York to talk about the GLBT cable network’s one year anniversary. She also brought with her special guest Ant of the new show U.S. of Ant. We had great callers from around the country and then I came back to give a glimpse of being GLBT in the Windy City.
Alan Freed of XM’s BPM dance music channel joined Joe and Mary in the studio to showcase his channel’s music selection and then we wrapped up with Joe’s weekly Call to Action. With the Federal Marriage Amendment vote this week, Joe urged everyone to contact their Representative and tell them to Vote No!
