A lot of politics, and some lighter moments, on this week’s edition of The Agenda.

We started out checking in on the battleground state of Ohio. Kelly Anthony of HRC’s Field Staff talked to us from the ground where she is working to elect Ted Strickland as governor and Rep. Sherrod Brown as a U.S. senator.

In Cup of Joe, former Rep. Liz Holtzman, author of The Impeachment of George W. Bush: A Practical Guide for Concerned Citizens, joined us live from XM’s New York studios. She served on the House Judiciary Committee that voted to impeach President Richard Nixon and gave both a historical and contemporary perspective on impeachment policy and politics. Joe also had a great conversation with two young activists who are graduate students at The New School for Management and Urban Policy.

Diving into religion and faith, the Rev. Mel White joined us on The Agenda to talk about his new book, Religion Gone Bad: The Hidden Dangers of the Christian Right. White was a ghostwriter for the likes of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell before he came out and founded the group Soulforce. Listen to the interview here.

Back to politics, Joe shared a conversation he had with congressional hopeful Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq war veteran who has taken strong stands on GLBT issues.

One a lighter note, fabulous lesbian comedian Sabrina Matthews joined us in Point of View. We talked about everything from her mother to her gay and lesbian diving club to the new dogs that are tearing up her house. Listen to the hilarious segment here .

Finally, Kevin Jennings, author and founder of GLSEN, joined The Agenda from New York to talk about his new book Mama’s Boy, Preacher’s Son. He talked about his childhood growing up in the South as well as his current work to make sure that schools are safe places for all students. Listen to the segment here .
