We continue to heat up our political coverage on The Agenda as we go into the home stretch of the campaign season. Last night we started out with a conversation with Michele Lawrence Jawando of People for the American Way. She is coordinating the Election Protection project to ensure that voters are not intimidated and do not face problems casting their ballots

We also talked with John Harris - national political editor at The Washington Post and author of The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008 with Mark Halperin. Harris shared his insights into the midterm elections as well as what he calls the “trade secrets” necessary to winning the presidency in 2008. Listen to his segment here.

Joining us in-studio for Cup of Joe were Gretchen and Kathryn Hamm - a mother/daughter pair who help plan gay weddings and founded the sites TwoBrides.com and TwoGrooms.com and now run GayWeddings.com. Gretchen is a saucy Texan who has become active in her community and at the national level to ensure that her lesbian daughter has the same rights as her straight son. Listen to both segments with the Hamms here and here.

We always like to have a little humor on The Agenda so we invited lesbian comedian Karen Williams, founder of the HaHA Institute. She’s a regular fixture on the HRC dinner circuit and had some great stories to share with Joe and Mary. Listen here.

We had so much fun last time Zack Grey was on the show, we had to have him back. He’s an L.A.-based pet trainer and appears in the new hit Lifetime show Off the Leash that follows dog owners who want their little pooch to be the next Lassie or Rin-Tin-Tin.

We’ve got another exciting show shaping up for next week so check back later in the week for details.
