As the country took yesterday to remember the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., The Agenda hosted Congresswoman Gwen Moore of the Congressional Black Caucus to talk to us about Dr. King’s legacy and why her influential group of colleagues supports equality for GLBT Americans. We also had a visit from MSNBC commentator Bill Press for a fascinating discussion about the religious right, prospects for GLBT rights bills in the new Congress and his book — How the Republicans Stole Religion. Listen to the interview here.
As we went off the air, the Golden Globes went on the air so we threw a bit of a pre-show on The Agenda with Renee Graham, pop culture correspondent for WBUR-FM and a freelance columnist. See if their picks were right in parts one and two.
Last night we were also joined by Beth Robinson of Vermont’s Freedom to Marry Task Force, who talked about where marriage and civil unions stand in her state, and Kevin Joffré, editor of the new magazine Qr, who discussed his magazine, focused on young gay men.
