Last night’s edition of The Agenda with Joe Solmonese was everything from political to pecuniary to personal. We started out looking at Thursday’s Presidential Forum that the Human Rights Campaign Foundation is sponsoring with the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender network Logo. Lisa Sherman, Logo’s general manager, was our guest to talk about the latest news and how the nationally televised special will be the most in-depth look at GLBT issues this campaign cycle.
Then we turned to money matters with Joe Kapp and Nick Burkholder who run a financial planning business in Washington, D.C., that primarily serves same-sex couples. These Advocate columnists gave out some tips about how to best plan your family’s finances. Listen to parts one and two.
We got back to politics with Drew Westen, author of the new book The Political Brain. As a psychology professor and brain researcher, he had some fascinating insights on how people use emotion to make decisions that eventually determine the fate of the nation. Listen to this fascinating conversation in parts one and two.
From there we talked with Chuck Panozzo who you may remember from the 80s rock band Styx. Chuck is now living his life openly and honestly as a gay man and talked with Joe and co-host Mary Breslauer about his personal journey as well as his activism on HIV/AIDS issues.
Finally, we welcomed back one of our favorite Agenda regulars — Ed Salvato, the editor of Out Traveler. Not only did he give us a few last-minute summer travel ideas but he also had some great tips for fall getaways. Listen in.
