We had a fantastic line-up last night on The Agenda with Joe Solmonese as we celebrated the inauguration of President Barack Obama, looked at the Oscar nominations and discussed other news of the day.

Leading off we welcomed Bruce Cohen, producer of “Milk” nominated for eight Academy Awards. Also under his belt are “American Beauty,” “Too Wong Foo…” and the TV series “Pushing Daisies” among others. Download parts one and two or listen:

Looking back at this week’s historic inauguration, we were joined by Jonathan Capehart, a member of the Washington Post editorial board. He shared his personal and political reflections on the day and assessed the President’s first 48 hours in office. Download or listen:

In a New York Times op-ed last week, Mary Frances Berry proposed that the new president disband the Commission on Civil Rights and replace it with a new Human and Civil Rights Commission that would in part deal with issues faced by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. She is a former chair of the commission and she discussed her view on the future of the LGBT movement. Download or listen:

This week Ray Buckley was elected as the president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs. He’s the first openly gay man to hold this position, and is now the highest-ranking openly gay Democratic Party official. He joined us to talk about his new gig and his efforts to advance equality in his home state of New Hampshire. Download or listen:

Finally we love a good book and author Benoit Denizet-Lewis delivers a page turner with “America Anonymous.” It tells the stories of eight addicts along the road of recovery – including his own struggles with sex addiction. Download parts one and two or listen:
